This past year, the Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County served more than 2,000 victims of child abuse.  One of the key services we offer is therapy for victims and families.  All services are offered at no cost.  Therapy is essential to help children work through the emotional trauma from abuse and begin the healing process.

Our annual Heroes Gala fundraiser helps us maintain our therapy services and increases the likelihood that children will see a brighter future.

Our keynote speaker for the evening is Dominic Carter, a fixture in news reporting and commentary for 35 years.  Dominic believed his life-long secrets were so horrendous that he would take them to his grave, vowing to never reveal them. In 2007, he released his book, “No Momma’s Boy” in which he chronicles his triumphant struggle to overcome his mother’s mental illness and the physical and sexual abuse he suffered in her care.  Described as one of the best commentators in New York today, Dominic has traveled the globe telling his story.  KWCH-TV’s Investigative Reporter and News Anchor at Five, Six, Six Thirty and Ten, Michael Schwanke, will host this inspirational event.  Recognition of local heroes and a silent auction will enhance this encouraging and entertaining evening.
