Dominic Carter is a news reporter and political commentator – a fixture in the industry for 35 years – currently working as an on-air host at WABC Radio in New York. He has traveled the globe and interviewed public figures, such as former President Donald Trump, Bill & Hillary Clinton, and Nelson Mandela of South Africa. He is described as one on the best political commentators in New York today. But Dominic had life-long secrets that he believed were so horrendous and embarrassing he would take them to his grave, vowing to never reveal them. 

Dominic grew up poor and fatherless in New York City’s notorious South Bronx housing projects.  His grandfather was a heroin addict, and his mother, who was diagnosed with “Chronic Paranoid Schizophrenia,” was in and out of state psychiatric institutions for years. Dominic’s biological mother not only physically and sexually abused her son, but documentation in her psychiatric records revealed that she heard voices tell her to throw two- year-old Dominic out of the window. His upbringing was the flip side of the American dream, and yet he went on to be the first one in his family to attend college. Dominic Carter has lived a life of devastating lows and tremendous highs.

Carter released a book on his life, “No Momma’s Boy,” in which he chronicles his triumphant struggle to overcome the effects of his mother’s mental illness and his childhood sexual abuse.  Oprah Winfrey, in her magazine, has told Dominic’s heart-wrenching journey as a victim of physical and sexual assault.

Dominic feels strongly that professionals who help children are “Angels on Earth,” and those who donate financially to groups like the Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County here in Wichita, provide “a Voice for the Voiceless.”
